The Santuário do Senhor Bom Jesus do Bacalhau is located in the district of Santo Antônio do Pirapetinga, o Bacalhau, in Piranga (MG), 12 km from the city center and at the highest point of the municipality, at 1,000 meters altitude.
The Jubilee of Senhor Bom Jesus is the second oldest Canonical Jubilee in Minas Gerais, celebrated in one of the five oldest parishes in the State and the oldest in the Archdiocese of Mariana. The Shrine is one of the few listed by IPHAN (1996), with a previous state listing in 1989.
The Brotherhood of Bom Jesus was officially erected in 1792 and remains linked to the preservation and continuity of the Shrine. The collection gathers images and artifacts by artists such as Father Félix Antônio Lisboa, brother of Aleijadinho, and the carver Manoel Dias da Silva.
